Mentors play a key role in welcoming new members of the Corporation during their first term. Corporation members who serve as Mentors become another resource for the new member to ask questions and engaging the new member in the WHOI Community.<\/p>\nProcess for Assignment: <\/strong> 2) Go out of your way to introduce the new member to others at their first in person meeting.<\/p>\n 3) Serve as another resource and point of contact for members during their first couple of meetings. You don’t have to know it all! It is always appropriate to redirect a new member to a staff contact if you are unsure about their request or question.<\/p>\n
\nOnce the Nominating Committee and Executive Committee have voted and approved a candidate as a “Corporation Elect” a member of the Mentorship Committee will assign a Mentor.\nMentor’s Responsibilities: <\/strong>
\n1) Once assigned, mentors should reach out to welcome and introduce themselves to the new member. When possible, we encourage meeting in person for coffee or a drink, or setting up an introductory call within 30 days of receiving your mentee assignment.\n
