To contact individual scientists at those institutes please consult the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/aomip\/participants\/\">Participants<\/a>\u00a0webpage.<\/p>\n<h2>Forcing Data<\/h2>\n<p>To ensure an accurate intercomparison experiment, and to eliminate ambiguities in interpretation of model results, it is necessary to force and validate all models in as similar a manner as possible. To this end, we have collected and created a variety of standardized model forcing data sets:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For bathymetry, we have created a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/aomip\/data\/topographic-forcing-data\/\">global merged data product<\/a>\u00a0that blends the International Bathymetric Chart of the Arctic Ocean data with the Earth Topography Five Minute data (<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/aomip\/references\/#Holland_2000\">Holland<\/a>, 2000).<\/li>\n<li>For river-runoff, we will be using the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.r-arcticnet.sr.unh.edu\/\">hydrographic data product<\/a>\u00a0for the arctic region developed at the University of New Hampshire (<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/aomip\/references\/#lammers_2000\">Lammers et al.<\/a>, 2000). For sea-ice we will use\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nsidc.org\/NSIDC\/CATALOG\/index.html\">data sets<\/a>\u00a0archived at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (<a href=\"http:\/\/nsidc.org\/index.html\">NSIDC<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>For hydrography, we have produced a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/psc.apl.uw.edu\/\">global merged data product<\/a>\u00a0, where various high-quality Arctic Ocean data sets have been blended with the World Ocean Atlas (<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/aomip\/references\/#Steele_2001b\">Steele et al.<\/a>, 2001).<\/li>\n<li>For atmospheric forcing, we will be using derived reanalysis products from the National Centers for Environmental Protection (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncep.noaa.gov\/\">NCEP<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Validation Data<\/h2>\n<p>A1 (&#8220;cm2011a1.dat&#8221;) is the most recent climatological summary from humankind&#8217;s history of current meter, as well as more recent profiler, observations (<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/aomip\/data\/validation-data\/currents-data\/\">Currents data<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Ocean temperature and velocity data from moorings in the Fram Strait\u00a0 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/aomip\/data\/validation-data\/validation-data-wsc-moorings\/\">WSC Moorings<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Data Data Contacts For\u00a0scientific\u00a0questions regarding the content of individual data sets, please direct your inquiry to the institution that has created the data set.
