{"id":697,"date":"2020-06-16T12:21:07","date_gmt":"2020-06-16T16:21:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/cohenlab\/?page_id=697"},"modified":"2020-07-01T15:12:23","modified_gmt":"2020-07-01T19:12:23","slug":"opportunities-in-the-lab","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/cohenlab\/opportunities-in-the-lab\/","title":{"rendered":"Opportunities in the Lab"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\t<h1>Opportunities in the Lab<\/h1>\n<h3>Undergraduate Opportunities<\/h3>\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whoi.edu\/what-we-do\/educate\/undergraduate-programs\/summer-student-fellowship\/\">Summer Student Fellowship<br \/>\n<\/a><\/strong>The objective of this program is to provide a promising group of science and engineering Junior year undergraduate students early experience in oceanographic and ocean engineering research that will assist them in their career choices.\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whoi.edu\/what-we-do\/educate\/gueststudent\/\"><strong>Guest Student Program<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/a>The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution offers an informal internship program in which a limited number of graduate and undergraduate students are accepted as Guest Students in our laboratories on a year-round basis.\n<h3>Graduate Programs<\/h3>\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mit.whoi.edu\/\">Degree Progam: MIT\/WHOI Joint Program<br \/>\n<\/a><\/strong>In 1968 the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) entered into an agreement to conduct a cooperative academic program leading to graduate degrees in oceanography and in oceanographic engineering. Joint degrees are single documents awarded by both institutions.\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/gfd.whoi.edu\/gfd-fellowships\/\">Fellowship Program: Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Program<br \/>\n<\/a><\/strong>Scientists and students gather for a ten-week research and study program in Woods Hole each summer to explore specific topics in the general area of geophysical fluid dynamics. Up to ten competitive fellowships are available for graduate students.\n<h3>Postdoctoral Studies<\/h3>\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whoi.edu\/what-we-do\/educate\/postdoctoral\/postdocs-scholar-fellowship-appointments\/\">Scholarship Awards<br \/>\n<\/a><\/strong>Eighteen-month Postdoctoral Scholar awards are offered to recipients of new or recent doctorates in the fields of chemistry, engineering, geology, geophysics, mathematics, meteorology, physics, and biology as well as oceanography.\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whoi.edu\/what-we-do\/educate\/postdoctoral\/postdocs-investigators\/\">Postdoctoral Investigators<br \/>\n<\/a><\/strong>Postdoctoral Investigator positions are available at the Institution.
