DSL engineers and scientists design and adapt state-of-the-art automatic control methodologies to remotely operated underwater vehicles for survey, close-up observations and sample gathering in some of the most remote and extreme regions of the oceans. DSL is the base for remotely operated vehicles and hybrids such as <em>Nereid Under Ice<\/em> and <em>Mesobot<\/em> as well as autonomous vehicles including the newly developed Polar Sentinel.<br \/>\n\n\t<h1>DSL Facilities, Labs &amp; Groups<br \/>\n<\/h1>\n\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/ndsf.whoi.edu\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/deepsubmergencelab\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/149\/2022\/09\/alvin.jpg\" alt=\"alvin\" height=\"576\" width=\"1024\" title=\"alvin\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/ndsf.whoi.edu\/\">National Deep Submergence Facility (NDSF)<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>The National Deep Submergence Facility is home to HOV <em>Alvin<\/em>, ROV <em>Jason\/Medea<\/em>, and AUV <em>Sentry<\/em>.
