Christine gave a review talk on marine electromagnetic geophysics detailing the global variability in the electromagnetic lithosphere and the application of controlled source methods to imaging lithology, pore fluid, and methane in the upper ~10 km of the subsurface.\u00a0 Jae presented his research on machine learning solutions for inverting electromagnetic data. Bailey, Natalie, and Christine presented posters on the Vulcan, MT, and CSEM results from the Gofar transform fault, respectively.<\/p>\r\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/elecctro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/158\/2024\/10\/hotsprings.png\" alt=\"\" \/> <img src=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/elecctro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/158\/2024\/10\/canyon.png\" alt=\"\" \/> <img src=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/elecctro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/158\/2024\/10\/IMG_2953-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/> <img src=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/elecctro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/158\/2024\/10\/IMG_2934-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/> <img src=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/elecctro\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/158\/2024\/10\/IMG_2891-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p>The city of Beppu, in the \u014cita Prefecture of Southern Japan, was an appropriate setting for an EM geophysics workshop, surrounded by hot springs and volcanoes. We enjoyed onsen, hikes in the mountains, and singing &#8220;Somewhere Over the Rainbow&#8221; at karaoke with our global colleagues.
