Welcome to the WHOI Plasma Facility!

The WHOI Plasma Facility measures an impressive variety of isotope ratios as well as major, trace, and rare earth element concentrations. We serve a wide range of scientists, postdocs, graduate student, and undergraduate geochemists of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and the greater academic community in the US and abroad.

Our instruments include a ThermoFisher Neptune multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (MC-ICP-MS), a ThermoFisher iCAP inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS), and an Agilent 5900 inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-ES).

We also provide analytical services that include sample preparation, element separation and purification for Sr, Nd and Pb isotope analyses.
