{"id":1568,"date":"2019-08-30T13:33:11","date_gmt":"2019-08-30T17:33:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/itp\/?page_id=1568"},"modified":"2021-07-20T12:14:25","modified_gmt":"2021-07-20T16:14:25","slug":"itp-21-deployment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/itp\/data\/completed-missions\/itp-21\/itp-21-deployment\/","title":{"rendered":"ITP 021 Deployment"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n\t<h1>ITP21 Deployment Operations<\/h1>\r\n\t<p>Finding no good ice floe on a helicopter reconnaissance flight the previous day, two landings were made this morning on icefloes that were greater than 5 m thick (rafted) before one was found around 3.3 m thick (although rafted on one side) for the first ITP deployment of the summer.\u00a0 An ITP-only deployment, the entire instrument, personnel and deployment apparatus were transported to the ice in 3 passenger loads (with cargo) and 3 sling loads.\u00a0 Supplemental flotation (large cone) was used with the standard buoy to enhance durability of surface package in response to the thinner ice conditions encountered the previous year.
