{"id":2313,"date":"2019-10-04T17:10:46","date_gmt":"2019-10-04T21:10:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/itp\/?page_id=2313"},"modified":"2021-07-20T13:17:59","modified_gmt":"2021-07-20T17:17:59","slug":"itp49-deployment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/itp\/data\/completed-missions\/itp49\/itp49-deployment\/","title":{"rendered":"ITP 049 Deployment"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n\t<h1>ITP49 Deployment Operations<\/h1>\r\n<p>ITP 49 was the third ITP deployed from the\u00a0<i>Polarstern<\/i>\u00a0during the ARK-XXVI\/3 expedition.\u00a0 Poor weather prevented the use of the helicopter, so the instrument and equipment were craned over the side, and the gangplank was lowered so that the deployment team could deploy the buoy away from the ship on a 2 m thick ice floe that was slightly bumpy, with melt ponds and a ridge nearby.\u00a0 More than 3.5 m thick ice was only about 20 m away from the ITP site. The wind (chill) was quite strong during parts of the deployment.
