{"id":5151,"date":"2024-03-05T14:19:27","date_gmt":"2024-03-05T18:19:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/itp\/?page_id=5151"},"modified":"2024-03-05T14:19:27","modified_gmt":"2024-03-05T18:19:27","slug":"itp85-deployment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/itp\/data\/completed-missions\/itp85-overview\/itp85-deployment\/","title":{"rendered":"ITP 085 Deployment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<h1>ITP85 Deployment Operations<\/h1>\n\t<p>The first Ice-Based Observatory (IBO) deployed during JOIS 2014, included ITP 85 with a SAMI pCO2 and SAMI pH clamped on the wire.\u00a0 In addition, a S-IMB and atmospheric chemistry O-Buoy were also deployed on the site while other scientists obtained detailed ice surveys, core samples, and made other measurements.<\/p>\n<p>For this ice station, the ship was able to pull alongside the selected icefloe and gangway lowered so that personnel could walk to the floe rather than be transported by helicopter.\u00a0 Difficulties with one buoy that would not boot properly after installation required for that unit to be recovered and returned which significantly delayed the overall operations so that the ITP was not completely deployed until after the cold October dusk.<\/p>\n<p>More information and photos on the deployment operations are also available at: <a href=\"https:\/\/archives.whoi.edu\/beaufortgyre\/www.whoi.edu\/page.do@pid=138676.html\">https:\/\/archives.whoi.edu\/beaufortgyre\/www.whoi.edu\/page.do@pid=138676.html<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/itp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/03\/DSCN0478-scaled.jpg\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/itp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/03\/DSCN0478-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"The helicopter transfers gear for the second IBO deployment to the icefloe.
