{"id":5212,"date":"2024-03-12T11:00:47","date_gmt":"2024-03-12T15:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/itp\/?page_id=5212"},"modified":"2024-07-11T11:22:52","modified_gmt":"2024-07-11T15:22:52","slug":"itp87-deployment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/itp\/data\/completed-missions\/itp87-overview\/itp87-deployment\/","title":{"rendered":"ITP 087 Deployment"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<h1>ITP 87 Deployment<\/h1>\r\n<p>The decision to install ITP87 had to be made quickly on the short term station 8.\u00a0 Distance from already installed ITP81 was shorter than proposed &#8211; only 90 km or so but given tight ship schedule and unpredicted ice conditions ahead, best judgment of WHOI team was to proceed with deployment.\u00a0 Scouting party of 3 was send on foot in the morning to the visually chosen site and determined that large ice floe was quite acceptable, ice thickness 120 cm with no ice underneath.<\/p>\r\n<p>In the morning most gear was lowered by crane from the ship to the ice for afternoon deployment.
