{"id":5510,"date":"2024-06-25T15:11:46","date_gmt":"2024-06-25T19:11:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/itp\/?page_id=5510"},"modified":"2024-06-25T15:13:53","modified_gmt":"2024-06-25T19:13:53","slug":"itp98-deployment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/itp\/data\/completed-missions\/itp98-overview\/itp98-deployment\/","title":{"rendered":"ITP 098 Deployment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<h1>ITP 98 Deployment<\/h1>\n\t<p>The first and only Ice-Based Observatory (IBO) installed on the JOIS 2016 cruise included ITP 98 (another IBO was planned to be installed, but poor ice conditions prevented a second ice station).\u00a0 Due to the thin ice conditions, reconnaissance operations took 2 days to find adequate ice to deploy the IBO, as suitable ice could not be located on the first day, and weather limited daylight conditions constrained the operations.\u00a0 Not including the time to reconnaissance, drill and select the ice floe (which was only 0.75 m thick), this deployment operation took between nearly 7 hours, including transportation of gear and personnel each way to the site.\u00a0 Ice analyses were also performed by others in the science party while the IBO deployment operations took place.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/itp\/data\/completed-missions\/itp98-overview\/itp98-data-processing\/\">Data Processing<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/itp\/data\/completed-missions\/itp98-overview\/itp98-final-data\/\">Final Data<\/a><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/itp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/92\/2024\/06\/DSCN2195-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Thin ice conditions surround the only large floe (top middle) selected for IBO deployment.
