ITP 89 Deployment<\/h1>\n\t

ITP 89 was deployed as part of the second and last Ice-Based Observatory installed during JOIS 2015.\u00a0 As the previous IBO, reconnaissance operations took 2 days to locate a suitable ice floe due to the thin ice conditions and weather limited daylight conditions constraining the operations.\u00a0 Strong winds, low temperatures, and thick snow on the ice made for difficult operating conditions.\u00a0 Not including the time to reconnaissance, drill and select the ice floe, the deployment operation took 7 hours, including transportation of gear and personnel each way to the site.\u00a0 Ice analyses were also performed by others in the science party while the IBO deployment operations took place.<\/p>\n
