WHOI Postdoctoral Scholar Program
WHOI offers a number of competitive 18-month Postdoctoral Scholarships for newly minted Ph.D.s to pursue independent research projects in collaboration with WHOI scientists.

MIT–WHOI Joint Program
Update: I am not recruiting graduate students for the 2026–2027 admissions cycle. If you are considering the MIT–WHOI Joint Program, I encourage you to connect with other faculty whose interests align with yours. I hope to revisit applications in future years once circumstances improve.
The MIT–WHOI Joint Program combines the resources of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution to offer a highly regarded graduate degree in marine science. Admission is extremely competitive; I’ve shared some tips and advice on applying on my blog.

Summer Student Fellowships
Summer Student Fellows are competitively selected to conduct research in ocean sciences and engineering in collaboration with WHOI scientists. Fellows also attend a busy schedule of talks and seminars and take part in a one-day ocean sampling cruise onboard the R/V Tioga.

Guest Studentships
WHOI offers a limited number of Guest Student appointments for full-time graduate and undergraduate students in conjunction with their studies.
