February-March Expedition to Test Deployments in Prep for\u00a0 Move to Southern Mid-Atlantic Bight<\/h2>\n

Test deployments in preparation for installation of an\u00a0Ocean Observatories Initiative<\/a> (OOI) ocean observing system in a new location in the southern Mid-Atlantic Bight (MAB) will take place over the next two weeks – February 21-March 1, 2023.\u00a0 A team of scientists and engineers from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) left Charleston, SC aboard the R\/V Neil Armstrong<\/em> to deploy two test moorings off the coast of North Carolina, occupying shallow and deep sites of the proposed array. The deployments will supplement computer modeling to ensure the mooring designs perform as expected in the MAB environment. The moorings will be recovered in late October-early November 2023.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\"Pioneer-MAB-illustration\"\n\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t
