﻿{"id":535457,"date":"2024-05-20T15:15:22","date_gmt":"2024-05-20T19:15:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/ooi-expedition\/?page_id=535457"},"modified":"2025-05-22T11:48:12","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T15:48:12","slug":"station-papa-11","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/ooi-expedition\/station-papa-11\/","title":{"rendered":"Station Papa 11"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<h1>11th Refresh of Global Station Papa Array<\/h1>\r\n<h2><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<h2><strong>Recovery and Deployment of Station Papa Array and University of Washington Mooring<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>A team of 11 scientists and engineers will be aboard the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uaf.edu\/cfos\/sikuliaq\/about-rv-sikuliaq.php\">R\/V\u00a0<em>Sikuliaq<\/em><\/a><\/strong> for a 17-day expedition (May 29 -June 15, 2024) to recover and deploy three OOI subsurface moorings and two open ocean gliders. The team also will be recovering and deploying a waverider mooring for the University of Washington.\u00a0 Other onboard activities will include conducting water and other sampling while underway. The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/oceanobservatories.org\/array\/global-station-papa-array\/\">Global Station Papa Array <\/a><\/strong>is located in the Gulf of Alaska, about 620 nautical miles offshore. The ship will depart from and return to Seward, Alaska, with a transit time to the array of about 2.5 days. The Array is located in a critical region of the northeast Pacific with a productive fishery subject to ocean acidification, low eddy variability, and impacted by the Pacific Decadal Oscillation.
