Elend, University of Washington, V23.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>August 13, 2023<\/strong>: With 40 knot winds offshore, the Thompson was kept inshore for an extra day and plans made to switch operations to the nearest <a class=\"glossaryLink\" href=\"https:\/\/interactiveoceans.washington.edu\/glossary\/site\/\" aria-describedby=\"tt\" data-cmtooltip=\"cmtt_a59085e8d5b82a343457b355385038d3\" data-gt-translate-attributes=\"[{&quot;attribute&quot;:&quot;data-cmtooltip&quot;, &quot;format&quot;:&quot;html&quot;}]\">site<\/a>, the Oregon Shelf \u2013 only an hour offshore. During the stay in port, the\u00a0<em>Thompson<\/em>\u00a0crew conducted a Safety meeting, including a requirement for all team members to don their emergency survival suits.
