Clio is a powerful sampling platform that can be used simultaneously and independently of traditional wire based sampling systems, acting as a ‘force multiplier’ for seagoing research. Clio is full depth capable (6000m), can target and trigger off specific water column features. Clio is equipped with four payload bays and CTD sensor systems, allowing synoptic sampling of biogeochemical and omic samples. It is capable of filtering large volumes of water in high resolution vertical profiles for marine genomics (DNA), transcriptomics (RNA), proteomics (proteins and enzymes), metabolomics (lipids and other metabolites), and metallomics (metals). Clio has completed its engineering and science trials, with over 50 dives to date, and contributing to two ocean sections of multi-omics studies. Contact us for more information on using Clio.

Related Information

Clio on Bluesky

Development of the Biogeochemical Clio Robotic Sampler Clio is a funded autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) developed by Chip Breier and Mike Jakuba in collaboration with the Saito laboratory.
