What We Do<\/strong><\/h1>\r\n

Our research focuses on the biochemistry, evolution, and regulation of\u00a0cytochrome P450\u00a0enzymes and their roles in biochemical toxicology. We are interested in the metabolism and biological effects of xenobiotics, such as PCBs, and natural products, including steroid hormones, in aquatic animals. We investigate how the structure-function relationships involved in the effects of these chemicals are related to the susceptibility of developing animals.<\/p>\r\n

We use molecular techniques including quantitative PCR, RNA-seq, long-read nanopore sequencing, and biochemical and computational analyses of proteins to investigate the regulation and function of cytochromes P450 in a wide variety of animals, from vertebrates to mollusks to deep sea fish.<\/p>\r\n
