Fouzia starts 3-month visit at the National Center for Atmospheric Research

On May 8, Fouzia started a 3-month visit at the Mesoscale and Microscale Meteorology Laboratory (MMM) at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). Fouzia was awarded a fellowship in January 2024 as a part of NSF NCAR’s Advanced Study Program’s Graduate Visitor Program.

Fouzia is working with Dr. Falko Judt on her third project for her Ph.D. dissertation entitled, “Understanding the relationship between precipitation variability associated with equatorial waves and ITCZ in the East Pacific.” She will run short (90-day long) simulations using the Model for Prediction Across Scales (MPAS, https://www.mmm.ucar.edu/models/mpas) to improve the representation of tropical precipitation biases in longer timescale (decades-long) climate model simulations.

Congrats, Fouzia!
