However, these the water bodies are increasingly under threat from toxic algae blooms, posing significant risks to the environment, wildlife, and human health. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/whcohh\/\">Woods Hole Center for Oceans and Human Health at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/circuitfilms.org\/\">Circuit Films<\/a>, in collaboration with many community partners, created an outreach film series entitled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PL1CGd4Scv4GJ3k-s7UPgk-3mKIaAIEeNX\">Saving Our Ponds<\/a>&#8220;.\u00a0\u00a0The six-video series\u00a0explores the recent increase and impacts of these blooms, discusses how individuals can protect themselves and their pets, and highlights the importance of preserving and restoring water quality. In addition to discussing the challenges posted by these blooms, the films highlight\u00a0community-driven initiatives and emerging technologies and approaches for addressing wastewater management challenges.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The film series also seeks to\u00a0inspire and motivate viewers to actively engage in local conservation efforts and provide information about ways they can get involved, and help foster a sense of responsibility and ownership for these ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Saving Our Ponds&#8221; film series is available for viewing on WHOI&#8217;s YouTube channel:\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PL1CGd4Scv4GJ3k-s7UPgk-3mKIaAIEeNX\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PL1CGd4Scv4GJ3k-s7UPgk-3mKIaAIEeNX<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cyano.whoi.edu\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/site\/whcohh\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2024\/07\/CyanoHab__logo_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"111\" height=\"22\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/cyano.whoi.edu\/\">CyanoHAB<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Toxic cyanobacteria blooms, also known as CyanoHABs, pose significant threats to water quality, public health, and aquatic ecosystems.
