My current research interests include 1) how increasing fluxes of glacial meltwater affects phytoplankton growth in the subpolar North Atlantic and the Southern Ocean, 2) how changing Gulf Stream dynamics influences primary productivity on the U.S. northeast continental shelf and slope, and 3) the environmental and ecological constraints on blooms of coccolithophores, <em>Phaeocystis<\/em>, and diatoms.
