Effect of preparation and preservation methods on gelatinous zooplankton stable isotope values

Collaborators: J. Logan, I. Potter & K. Carson

Recent studies suggest that stable isotope analysis (SIA) results for gelatinous zooplankton can be affected by different preparation and preservation methods. We are conducting a study to evaluate the effect of sample preservation (frozen vs. fresh) and preparation (oven vs. freeze drying) on stable isotope values of carbon and nitrogen of several species of scyphozoan jellyfish and ctenophores.
