WHOI has built about 10% of the global fleet.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/staff\/sjayne\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2025\/07\/SASCWATCH-Patch.jpg\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/staff\/sjayne\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2025\/07\/SASCWATCH-Patch.jpg\" alt=\"sascwatch\" height=\"1049\" width=\"1050\" title=\"SASCWATCH Patch\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/richterlab.nd.edu\/research\/sascwatch\/\">SASCWATCH<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/richterlab.nd.edu\/research\/sascwatch\/\">SASCWATCH<\/a> project is tackling the longstanding problem of understanding\u00a0air-sea\u00a0fluxes\u00a0at high wind speeds.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/staff\/sjayne\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2018\/02\/Alamo_deployplane.png\" alt=\"Alamo_deployplane\" height=\"500\" width=\"589\" title=\"Alamo_deployplane\" \/>\n\t<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/alamo.whoi.edu\/\">Air-Launched Autonomous Micro-Observer<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>In collaboration with our commercial partner, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mrvsys.com\/products\/mrvalamo\">MRV Systems<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/apig.whoi.edu\/alamo\/\">ALAMO<\/a> project is continuing the development of air-deployed profiling ocean floats capable of making sustained measurements of upper ocean temperature, salinity, waves, and acoustics.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/argo.whoi.edu\/alamo\/\">ALAMO data<\/a><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www2.whoi.edu\/staff\/sjayne\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2018\/02\/MIZ_Logo1-1.png\" alt=\"MIZ_Logo1\" height=\"500\" width=\"647\" title=\"MIZ_Logo1\" \/>\n\t<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/argo.ucsd.edu\/expansion\/polar-argo\/\">Arctic Argo<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>This program is expanding the Argo network to monitor and study the Arctic Ocean.\u00a0 They are the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apl.washington.edu\/project\/project.php?id=miz\">Marginal Ice Zone<\/a> (MIZ), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apl.washington.edu\/project\/project.php?id=soda\">Stratified Ocean Dynamics of the Arctic<\/a> (SODA), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmel.noaa.gov\/arctic-heat\/\">Arctic Heat<\/a> Project.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Projects Argo The Argo observational network consists of a fleet of 3000+ profiling autonomous floats deployed by about a dozen teams worldwide.
