Geochemistry of marine sediment and paleoceanography

More about our lab

The MUDPIT lab explores the geochemistry of sediments and nodules on the deep seafloor to investigate metal cycling, hydrothermal vents, ocean chemistry, and long-term changes to Earth’s oceans and climate. Members of the MUDPIT lab perform fieldwork at sea, laboratory analyses, and geochemical modeling to advance their scientific research. Research in the MUDPIT lab spans geochemistry, paleoceanography, marine chemistry, and marine geology to better understand the remote seafloor.
