New NSF project to measure the Labrador Coastal Current
A three-year project to track the "Transport and fate of the Labrador Coastal Current" has been funded by the Ocean Sciences Division of the National Science Foundation. We will deploy four current meters on the Labrador Shelf to measure the integrated transport of the the current, as well as three Submerged Autonomous Launch Platforms (SALPs) that will deploy surface drifters every 15 days into the current to track its fate along the Newfoundland Shelf. The principal investigators are myself, Dan Torres, and Amy Bower, all from WHOI.
