Parasites are integral members of most biological communities, yet little is known about their ecology at deep-sea hydrothermal vents. I work on describing the diversity and abundance of parasites at vents, with a focus on understanding life cycles and documenting larval stages.

The Dispersal of Parasites Between Hosts and Habitat Patches

I am interested in how parasites maintain connectivity both between patchy hosts and habitats, and how parasite composition in host populations changes over succession. I study these processes using field surveys in New England estuaries and at deep-sea hydrothermal vents, as well as mathematical and computational modeling.
