Honey Chamomile Kelp Cake with Rose Petal Buttercream

Chamomile Kelp Cake

Ingredients

8 tablespoons unsalted butter

¾ cup sugar

2 eggs

½ cup milk

¼ cup honey

½ teaspoon vanilla

3 chamomile tea bags

½ teaspoon lemon zest

2 teaspoons lemon juice

15 g smashed dried kelp

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

 

  1. In a medium bowl, beat together the butter, sugar, and eggs. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, beat together the milk, honey, vanilla, chamomile tea leaves, lemon zest, lemon juice, and kelp.
  3. Combine the contents of both bowls in the large bowl and mix well.
  4. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until combined.
  5. Bake at 350F for 30-40 minutes.

 

Rose Petal Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter

4 ½ cups powdered sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla

2 tablespoons heavy cream

Rose petals

 

Instructions

  1. Beat together all ingredients except for the rose petals.
  2. Finely cut up rose petals and mix with frosting.
  3. Add on top of the cake as desired.
