Specifications

  • SWL = 'the sheave is designed to withstand the 355,000 pound breaking strength of the Plasma rope with a 90 degree wrap angle with a safety factor of 1.5 as defined in 46CFR-189-35.
  • Instrumented for load, rope speed and length out.
  • 65" OD X 60" root diameter Nylatron sheave ring grooved for 2" Plasma. The Nylatron sheave is bolted to a steel hub and is supported by a 7" diameter 17-4 PH stainless load pin.
  • The stern sheave is located in the center of the transom of the Knorr and sits on a heavily reinforced foundation built up from the main girder of the vessel. When the coring load is transferred to the stern sheave, it is offset by the vessels displacement in a way that there is no compromise to stability or structure. Structural load limit when rigged this way = 300 tons.
