About the Synthesis Product for Ocean Time-Series (SPOTS)
The Vision
A regularly updated data product of consistent biogeochemical data from ocean ship-based time-series for global assessments.
Data synthesis and modeling efforts across ocean time series represent important and necessary steps forward in broadening our view of a changing ocean, and maximizing the return on our continued investment in these programs. Here, we envision utilizing high-quality biogeochemical data from global time series sites to support the timely delivery of scientific information on ocean biogeochemistry trends and variability across main bioeco-domains of the world ocean, which will improve understanding of:
- The role of ocean biogeochemistry in climate
- Human impacts on ocean biogeochemistry
- Ocean ecosystem health
