Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry

Several state-of-the-art, isotope ratio mass spectrometers are available at WHOI for Microbial Biogeochemical research. These include:

1. Thermo-Finnigan Delta PLUS XP currently configured for analysis of N2 O (δ15 N, δ18 O, δ15 Na , δ15 Nb ), NO3 - (δ15 N, δ18 O), NO2 - (δ15 N, δ18 O), H2O (δ18 O), and O2 (δ18 O) using a gas chromatograph, continuous flow interface or dual inlet.
2. Thermo-Finnigan Delta PLUS XL currently configured for δD and δ13C of volatile carbon compounds and semi-volatile lipids.
3. Thermo-Finnigan MAT 252 currently configured for analysis of compound- or class- specific δ13C analyses at high-sensitivity using a moving wire combustion interface.
