We are always looking for creative, curious, and motivated folks at all levels to join the lab. Below is information about the wide range of programs offered at WHOI. If you are interested in joining the lab, please contact Collin directly via email (cward@whoi.edu). In the email, please include your CV and a brief description of your interests and how they align with the lab's.

Undergraduate Opportunities

Summer Student Fellowship

The objective of this program is to provide a promising group of science and engineering Junior year undergraduate students early experience in oceanographic and ocean engineering research that will assist them in their career choices. Opportunities in the Ward lab will be posted on the SSF program website.

Community College Research Experiences at WHOI

This program focuses on promoting ocean science, technology, and engineering skills and capacity building among local community college students.

Guest Student Program

WHOI offers an informal internship program in which a limited number of graduate and undergraduate students are accepted as Guest Students at our institution on a year-round basis. If your studies would benefit from the toolset our lab offers, please feel free to reach out to Collin via email.

Graduate Programs

  • Please contact Collin via email at least two months before the application deadline for the Joint Program. I am happy to set up a time to discuss funding logistics, fellowship opportunities (e.g., NSF GRFP, NASA, DOE, etc.), and future directions of the lab.

Postdoctoral Studies

Postdoctoral Scholar Program

  • Please contact Collin via email at least two months before the application deadline (the earlier the better) so that we can discuss mutual interests and tips for applying for the program.

Postdoctoral Fellowships

  • I am happy to host postdoctoral fellows. There are lots of opportunities availableĀ  (e.g., NSF Ocean Sciences and Earth Sciences PD fellowship, Agouron Institute). Please reach out multiple months before the application deadline so that we can discuss mutual interests and find a potential path forward.

Postdoctoral Investigators

  • I routinely include postdoctoral support in my grant applications. Please contact Collin if interested in joining the lab as a postdoc.
