Model Experimentation

Project teams working across the WHOI-team, DOE-lab groups, and NOAA-lab groups will pursue a coordinated set of modeling activities designed to improve and explore the coupling between weather, surface wave, and ocean models, advanced parameterizations for surface and boundary layer processes,  and wake effects and wake parameterizations.  Model analysis efforts will utilize these advancements and model simulations to improve our understanding of the wind resource present in the study area, the role of different types of weather events in energy production, and the ability of foundational weather models to forecast atmospheric and wind conditions critical to offshore wind energy forecasts
