Deployment of ITP 2
The first prototype ITP (number 2) was deployed in August 2004 in the Beaufort Gyre at 77.2 N, 141.2 W, as part of the Beaufort Gyre Exploration Program from the Canadian Coast Guard Icebreaker Louis S. St-Laurent. The actual deployment is described on the Beaufort Gyre web page at "Cruise - 2004 Dispatches – Dispatch 8".
The ITP and one Ice Mass Balance Buoy (IMB) buoy were deployed on a 4 m thick multiyear ice floe. The ITP operated on a fast sample schedule of 6 one-way profiles between 10 and 750 m depth each day.
