Cruise Update – SKQ202511S (May 25-26)

Sunday, May 25:
With calmer seas and favorable weather, the team aboard the R/V Sikuliaq successfully recovered the HYPM-11 mooring. Acoustic checks the day before confirmed all systems were functioning, and the two-stage recovery design allowed for safe and efficient operations. By 14:00 local, all components were on deck and secured. The team also completed an acoustic data download at HYPM-12, confirming both profilers had completed their initial dives, and began winding the TSE winch in preparation for the next mooring deployment.

Monday, May 26:
Weather remained ideal for operations. After a 07:00 GAR briefing, the team deployed the FLMA-12 mooring, with the anchor dropped at 11:45 under sunny skies. A 4,100m CTD cast with water samples and an anchor survey followed. The TSE winch was then rewound in preparation for the FLMB-12 deployment, scheduled for the next day.

Completed Tasks:
✔ HYPM-11 recovery
✔ HYPM-12 data download
✔ FLMA-12 deployment
✔ 4,100m CTD at FLMA-12
