Nov. Expedition to Recover Pioneer Array for Move to Southern Mid-Atlantic Bight
A team of 20 scientists and engineers will leave the dock at Woods Hole, MA, aboard the R/V Neil Armstrong on November 9, 2022 to recover the Coastal Pioneer Array. Designed in 2016 as a re-locatable coastal array, the Coastal Pioneer Array has providing data about the Atlantic Ocean's continental shelf and upper slope for the last six years. The array will be deployed to a new site in the Southern Mid-Atlantic Bight in early 2024, where it will provide answers to pressing science questions in that region. The Coastal Pioneer Array is located off the coast of New England, about 75 nautical miles south of Martha’s Vineyard.
