April Expedition to Deploy Pioneer Array in Mid-Atlantic Bight

After more than a year of preparations, a team of scientists and engineers will leave Woods Hole, MA aboard the R/V Armstrong on April 1, 2024 to deploy the Pioneer Array in the Mid-Atlantic Bight for the first time. Designed as a moveable array, the new location was selected by a group of OOI data users based on its value to contribute to scientific knowledge. The deployment will consist of two legs beginning at Woods Hole and deployment off the coast of Cape Hatteras, NC. Bookmark this page and follow along on this history-making journey.

The Coastal Pioneer Array is located in the Mid-Atlantic Bight off the coast of Nags Head, NC.
