Successful Completion of Fall 2025 Endurance Array Recovery Expedition

The Fall 2025 Coastal Endurance Array Recovery Cruise (SR2520) concluded today with the successful recovery of the PacWave West anchor and final offloading in Newport. With all cruise objectives met and several additional accomplishments achieved, the science party wrapped up operations aboard the R/V Sally Ride and prepared equipment for transport back to Corvallis.

Highlights

  • Located and recovered the PacWave West anchor and chain after multiple ROV-assisted attempts.
  • Returned to port in Newport in the afternoon and offloaded gear.
  • Completed cleanup of labs, staterooms, and deck spaces.
  • Prepared recovered moorings, heavy lift winch, and seavan for shipment to Corvallis (scheduled for Sept 29 and Oct 1).

Conditions

  • Thursday (PacWave site): North winds around 18 kt, partly sunny, NW swell 5 ft at 10 seconds, wind waves around 3 ft.
  • Friday (OSU ship operations): Variable winds less than 5 kt becoming NNW 5–7 kt in the afternoon, sunny.

With the PacWave West anchor recovered and final offloading complete, SR2520 officially concluded. The Fall 2025 cruise successfully achieved its recovery mission for the OOI Endurance Array.
