Hybrid Profiler Mooring Successfully Re-Deploys at Irminger Sea
The Coastal and Global Scale Nodes (CGSN) team (Jim Ryder, Kris Newhall, James Kuo, Dan Bogorff, and Nikki Arm) have successfully re-deployed the Hybrid Profiler Mooring (HYPM) in the Irminger Sea.
Following its recent servicing, the HYPM and its Wire-Following Profiler will resume sampling nearly 2,400 meters of the water column, providing critical oceanographic data from this key North Atlantic location.
This deployment also marked the first use of a new shipping and deployment pallet. The system improved safety and efficiency on deck by making it easier to move the mooring’s two anchors, weighing 6,000 and 10,000 pounds, during deployment operations.
