Oregon Offshore Mooring Swap
As part of Leg 3 of the Spring 2025 Coastal Endurance Turn Cruise (SR2511), the team aboard the R/V Sally Ride completed a successful mooring swap at the Oregon Offshore site.
The new surface mooring (CE04OSSM-00019) was deployed, followed by the recovery of the previous mooring (CE04OSSM-00018). These moorings are key to monitoring offshore ocean conditions, contributing valuable long-term data on temperature, salinity, currents, and more.
The team worked through 5–7-foot seas with air temperatures ranging from 52–56°F. Winds picked up from 15 knots in the morning to 25 knots by late afternoon, under partly cloudy skies. Despite the increasing winds, conditions remained workable.
The forecast looks favorable for the remainder of the cruise, and the team is planning to dock Thursday afternoon in Newport.
