Pioneer 21 Field Update (March 31–April 1): Strong Momentum as Mooring and Glider Operations Advance

The CGSN team aboard the R/V Neil Armstrong made steady progress over March 31 and April 1 as part of the Pioneer 21 cruise in the Mid-Atlantic Bight. Despite rough seas and a few technical setbacks, the team successfully deployed key instruments, continued meteorological surveys, and advanced glider operations.

Highlights included the deployment of the Wire Following Profiler at SEPM-2, progress on building the CNSM-2 mooring, and successful deployment and recovery of multiple gliders. When seas calmed on April 1, the team resumed field operations and prepared for upcoming mooring deployments and post-deployment testing.

With better conditions ahead, the team is gearing up for a full day of deployments and data collection to support the broader research community.
