Washington Inshore Operations
The Spring 2025 Coastal Endurance Array Turn Cruise (SR2511) continues to make solid progress during Leg 2 aboard the R/V Sally Ride.
The team successfully recovered glider 1134, followed by the Washington Inshore Low Power Surface Mooring (CE06ISSM-00020)—with all components retrieved except for the anchor.
Two new deployments were also completed:
-
Washington Inshore Low Power Surface Mooring (CE06ISSM-00021)
-
Washington Inshore Surface Piercing Profiler (CE06ISSP-00018)
These platforms are key for monitoring nearshore ocean conditions off the Washington coast, supporting continuous data collection on temperature, salinity, oxygen, and more.

At the Washington Inshore Site, visibility was unusually clear, revealing Mount St. Helens 120 miles in the distance. Such clarity is uncommon during the upwelling season, when visibility is often reduced to less than a mile. (c): Stuart Pearce.
