Cascadia Subduction Zone

In 2010-2011 we deployed 10 broadband OBSs as part of the SEAJADE project (see pdf from EOS on the right) to study the updip region of the Cascadia subduction zone.  We are currently analyzing this data to determine the strength of the region near the updip end of great earthquakes to help understand their potential for tsunami generation.   From 2011-2015 The NSF Cascadia Initiative will produced the first comprehensive onshore-offshore seismic and geodetic study of the Cascadia Subduction Zone and Juan de Fuca Plate.  I am a member of the Cascadia Initiative Expedition Team that is responsible for implementing the offshore portion of this community experiment.
