WHOI Doherty Chair in Education
I just received the fabulous news that I was awarded a WHOI Doherty Chair in Education for “Navigating an Ocean of Data: Curriculum Development and Implementation for WHOI’s Academic Programs.” The three types of learning opportunities that I will offer in collaboration with WHOI’s Data Library, IS Applications Development team, and BCO-DMO are: 1) an 8-hr training camp for best practices in data and software management that includes domain-specific practices and exposure to WHOI’s institutional resources; 2) a 4-part hands-on/seminar series focusing on a subset of the training camp topics; and 3) two Software Carpentry and/or Data Carpentry Workshops as part of WHOI’s membership in The Carpentries. Look for these opportunities starting in January 2019.
