The Fall 2025 Coastal Endurance Array Recovery Cruise (SR2520) achieved another major milestone with the successful recovery of the Washington Shelf Mooring (CE07SHSM-00020) and the Washington Inshore Mooring (CE06ISSM-00021), along with both anchors. With both sites recovered, the science team began transit south toward Newport.
Highlights
- Completed pre-recovery CTD casts for CE07SHSM and CE06ISSM.
- Recovered CE07SHSM-00020 buoy, NSIF, MFN, riser components, and anchor.
- Recovered CE06ISSM-00021 buoy, NSIF, MFN, and anchor.
- Conducted post-recovery assessment of instruments on deck.
- Cleared and secured deck to prepare for return transit to Newport.
Conditions
- Washington Shelf (Thursday): North-northwest winds 16–18 kt, sunny skies, seas 8–9 ft.
- Newport (Friday): Northerly winds 8–12 kt, sunny, mixed swell (WNW 6–7 ft at 9 seconds, SW 1 ft at 14 seconds), wind waves around 2 ft.
With the Washington Shelf and Inshore moorings safely recovered, the team has wrapped up offshore recovery operations and is now heading back toward Newport.
