A Meeting of Research Vessels in the Mid-Atlantic

While transiting to Pioneer MAB, the R/V Neil Armstrong crossed paths with fellow research vessels R/V Atlantis and R/V Hugh R. Sharp—a striking reminder of the collaborative scientific efforts underway across the Mid-Atlantic Bight and New England Shelf.

Each vessel plays a vital role in advancing oceanographic research in this dynamic region. Together, these ships are supporting critical programs including the Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI), New England Shelf Long Term Ecological Research (NES-LTER), and Gulf Stream studies.
