2024 Expedition

2024 marks the 22nd year of BGOS & JOIS expeditions to the Beaufort Gyre onboard the CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent. Paul Macoun and Sarah Zimmermann (IOS) are co Chief Scientists on the expedition. The BGOS team on board includes Jeff O'Brien, Nico Llanos, Tim McDonough and Eric Trotto (WHOI), Mike DeGrandpre (U. Montana), and Mary-Louise Timmermans (Yale). We are recovering and redeploying the three Beaufort Gyre Observing System moorings, and deploying 2 Ice-Tethered Profilers and 4 Tethered Ocean Profilers, along with 2 seasonal Ice Mass Balance Buoys and 1 Arctic Ocean Flux Buoy. The IOS team is leading the acquisition of hydrographic and geochemical data at repeat stations spanning the region.
