2026 Expedition

2026 marks the 24th year of BGOS & JOIS expeditions to the Beaufort Gyre onboard the CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent. Paul Macoun and Sarah Zimmermann (IOS) are co Chief Scientists on the expedition. The BGOS team on board includes Jeff O'Brien, Chris Basque, Eric Hutt and Tim McDonough (WHOI) and Jennifer Kosty (Yale). We are recovering and redeploying the three Beaufort Gyre Observing System moorings, and deploying 4 Tethered Ocean Profilers, along with 2 seasonal Ice Mass Balance Buoys and 1 Ice-Tethered profiler that includes a velocity sensor. The IOS team is leading the acquisition of hydrographic and geochemical data at repeat stations spanning the region.
