2025 Expedition

2025 marks the 23rd year of BGOS & JOIS expeditions to the Beaufort Gyre onboard the CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent. Paul Macoun and Sarah Zimmermann (IOS) are co Chief Scientists on the expedition. The BGOS team on board includes Jeff O'Brien, Jim Ryder and Tim McDonough (WHOI), Cory Beatty (U. Montana) and Jennifer Kosty (Yale). We are recovering and redeploying the three Beaufort Gyre Observing System moorings, and deploying 4 Tethered Ocean Profilers, along with 2 seasonal Ice Mass Balance Buoys and 1 Ice Mass Balance Buoy. The IOS team is leading the acquisition of hydrographic and geochemical data at repeat stations spanning the region.
