Deployment Operations

The third Ice-Based Observatory (IBO) deployed during JOIS 2013, included ITP 68 with biosuite sensors on the profiler and a SAMI pCO2 clamped on the wire. In addition, an IMB and Uptempo buoy were also deployed on the site while other scientists obtained detailed ice surveys, core samples, and made other measurements.

A helicopter survey was performed first thing in the morning to locate an ice floe between 1 and 3 m thick, the cargo delivered to the ice, and the deployments conducted in 3 hours in the afternoon.
