ITP 119 Recovery
Two years later, ITP 119 was completely recovered intact was recovered during JOIS 2021. It had previously drifted too far west out of the JOIS cruise track, but drifted back over the Northwind Ridge into the JOIS 2021 area. The LSSL was receiving hourly ITP 119 position updates and was able to dislodge it out of the small floe it was found in by first ramming the floe with the bow and then sending the starboard bubblers at it. Once dislodged, the ITP moved very quickly down to midships and substantial repositioning was required before it was hooked using the manbasket from the foredeck. The wire was spooled onto an empty reel on the Lebus winch using Yale grips to transfer the weight. Both the profiler and anchors were muddy due to dragging.
